Julie Rogers

Reverence at Rock Creek
julieandhorseJulie Rogers was born in Goshen, Utah, with a natural love for art. As a small child she drew constantly, concentrating her talents on her passion for horses. She grew up on her family’s working cattle ranch where a typical summer day would see her cutting and baling hay and working with the ranch livestock. Julie cherishes this lifestyle and often depicts it in her work. Julie served a full-time mission in Boise, Idaho and graduated from Brigham Young University. She currently paints professionally as well as teaches part-time for Dixie College. As a professional artist, Julie loves to paint the simple things of everyday life. Her work has received many awards and is currently exhibited in the Church Museum of History and Art. Julie is the mother of five children, three boys and two girls. Because of her own experience, she desires to comfort mothers who had lost their little ones. Giving hope and comfort has always been Julie’s goal. What sets Julie apart from other artists is her unique ability to capture the light of the soul in her paintings. Julie says, “Children are my favorite subjects as they portray innocence, purity, and sincere inquisitiveness that is unique to their age. I only pray that as an artist, I may stir the heart of the viewer to a heightened sense of peace and joy.” Julie has always been especially drawn to the stories of the pioneers. As she got married and became a young mother she would dress her children in pioneer clothing and in the soft glow of the evening she would paint. Through the joy and the tears of her own life she has been able to more fully understand the pioneers she paints. Julie’s passionate portrayal of the pioneers, their sacrifices and triumphs, is truly masterful and inspiring. Her purpose is to help us learn what it is they can teach us.
